Overview |
Our goal is to create retreats in which participants can deepen their practice, make friends with themselves and the world, and return home with a greater capacity for both contentment and purpose. Retreats are ongoing Mondays through Fridays; you are invited to join us at any time, and stay the number of days that suits your schedule.
All levels of practioners are welcome.

Mornings (9:00 – 12:00, with breaks) will be devoted to yoga and brief sessions of meditation. Afternoons will include 1.5 hours of conversational Spanish with the women of Amatlan, and free time to explore the village, hike the surrounding countryside, relax, or pursue personal practice. After dinner, we will meet for a session of restorative yoga. |
Our Spanish sessions provide a wonderful opportunity to encounter the people of Amatlan. The women we have contracted to converse with you speak no English; this is immersion learning, proven to be both effective and extremely enjoyable. You will be invited into your conversation partner’s home, and experience close up a fascinating, traditional way of life. |
Participants will lodge in the town’s ecotourism cabins, which are charming, rustic, and located on the periphery of the village. These cabins provide a source of communal income for Amatlan.
Our practice space is a converted adobe farm house; humble, rustic, with gorgeous views, perched on the mountainside some ten minutes’ walk from the village. The tranquility, earthiness, and natural beauty of our setting create the ideal environment for both yoga and meditation. |
We provide two meals a day; breakfast and a large midday meal. Dinner can be purchased economically in the village’s single comedor. This gives you an additional opportunity to meet townspeople, practice your Spanish, and experience the delightfully slow rhythms of Amatlan.
