Our VisionGetting Here

There are direct flights from the U. S. to the city of Oaxaca. Fares change frequently, so some searching is necessary to find best current rates. From the city of Oaxaca, take any taxi to the Benito Juarez Monument, which is located on the northeast edge of the city. ( In Mexico, it is prudent to ask the price of a taxi ride, before getting in the taxi.) Have the driver let you off at the taxi stop for Ixtlan de Juarez, which is across the intersection from the Monument.

The collective taxis for Ixtlan leave frequently, whenever they have 5 passengers. The fare is set at 35 pesos. The trip takes something more than one hour, on a small, winding, mountain highway. Have the driver let you off in Guelatao, which is just a few minutes short of Ixtlan. He will let you off at the local taxi stop, where you can get a taxi to San Miguel Amatlan. The fare to Amatlan is set at 180 pesos per car (not per person), and you will backtrack a bit before heading up the mountain to Amatlan. Have the driver let you off at the town’s only comedor; the owners, who are very friendly folks, will get you in touch with the contact person for your lodging, or with us. Departing Amatlan is simpler: there is a bus which leaves almost every morning for Oaxaca; the fare is just 35 pesos.
